Can wisdom really be found in teeth?

Posted by Trisha on November 13th, 2007

If it can, I have gotten all I will get out of mine. Why do we have these useless teeth, anyway? Have they ever really provided anyone with the wisdom they are supposed to carry? I had my last 2 taken out yesterday (I only had 3 to begin with and the first fell apart and was taken out 3+ years ago). It was a relatively simple procedure (for me), since mine were fully erect and not impacted. Less than 30 minutes and I was done and on my way out the door! I was so glad it went so easily. I had seen my cousin, many years ago, have her wisdom teeth removed and the pain and horror she went through when it all got infected. Fortunately, I haven’t had too much pain, either. At least nothing some Ibuprofen hasn’t been able to cure. And the pain that I do experience doesn’t come from the two gaping holes in the back left of my mouth, either. It comes from the gums, into which they stuck the insanely long novocain needle. I also bled a lot longer than I anticipated, but I really shouldn’t have been surprised by that, especially considering the “trauma” that the bottom wisdom tooth/gum had to go through to come out. It was dangerously close to the nerve so they had to take extra care in getting it out (not to mention that it was so far back in my mouth it took an extra 5 minutes or so just to get it all). I am happy to report that there is only minimal swelling in my lower cheek/jaw and no bruising. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones that had a good experience, if there is such a thing when it comes to having teeth pulled, lol. The worst thing about it, imho, is the salt water rinse I have to do 4 times a day. ACK! Talk about something that makes you sick! Oh, well. I suppose it’s one of those necessary evils, huh?
