Tackle It Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Today’s tackle is actually kind of a silly one. Well, not silly to me or my kids, but silly to think of it as something I needed to “tackle.” It is, however, something I’ve needed to do for several weeks and just keep putting off for some reason or another. It required major surgery.

The boys have these stuffed reindeer. I don’t know who gave them to the boys or where they got them. We have looked everywhere online to try to find replacements but have not had any luck. The best I can do is patch them up until they are too decrepit to do anything with. We tried to take Ryan’s away (his is red) because it looked awful; nasty, dirty, etc. He cried and cried and cried. I took a chance, washed it, and (luckily) it turned out fine.

So today, I finally fixed Zach and Alex’s reindeer. Both are missing legs, but Zach’s is legless. Here are pics of my tackle:

(No before picture of Brownie, but you wouldn’t have seen the hole on him, anyway)

So, there’s my Tackle It Tuesday tackle for the week!

I was tagged!

Posted by Trisha on October 20th, 2008

Sadly, this came in a while ago. I just have been so busy with school and work I haven’t had a chance to participate yet! I was tagged by Melissa over atMultitasking Mama to list 6 random things about me that you all may not know. So, here goes!

1. I have a fear of public restrooms. I’ll use them if I have to, I just don’t like to. They completely gross me out.
2. I am not a very good housekeeper. The house isn’t dirty, per se, it just is a bit cluttered. I guess that could be attributed to the lack of storage space, but I’ll take responsibility for it.
3. I love books. Ok, probably not that random, but I really do. I just love the look and feel of them. Even if I don’t read them. Although, I’m an avid reader, too.
4. I am dreading turning 29 in January. It’s far too close to 30, and that scares me to death!
5. I am not an organized person by nature. It drives dh CRAZY because he is organized by nature. I try, and may stay organized for a couple of weeks, but I can’t make it stick for good. I’m trying, though.
6. I love to cook and bake. I am much more likely to bake a treat or birthday cake, for the kids or anyone, than I am to buy it.

Here are the people I’m tagging. I’m supposed to tag 6 people, but sadly, I don’t have that many people in my blog arsenal…So, I did 2 instead : Heather and LeeAndra.

Tackle It Tuesday

Posted by Trisha on June 3rd, 2008

This really is more of a “tackle every day” sort of challenge around here. It became more of a challenge after our recent vacation. Not to mention that I still had not purged the winter clothes from the drawers and closet. I bit the bullet today and did just that, leaving only a few fall/winter shirts and pants, just in case.

There are still toys on the floor, but that wasn’t my goal. The toys are their responsibility, I just take care of the clothes :)

Again, I don’t take care of the toys and books. That’s their responsibility. I just have to find them under all the clothes, lol. Looking at that after shot, I realize just how decimated the twins’ clothing supply is after their most recent growth spurt. But, alas, that’s how it goes in this house. Alex has three times as much as he’ll ever need for the season and the twins are left with only what has been given to us through birthday presents, Christmas presents, or hand-me-downs. Only, now, we don’t have anyone to hand their clothes down to us.

What are you tackling today? Whatever it is, Happy TIT!

Thursday 13

Because hte Indianapolis 500 is only ten days away, I’m doing an Indy Car TT this week :) So, here goes!

Thirteen Things about the 92nd running of the Indianapolis 500

1. This is the largest rookie class since 1997. Thirteen rookies are entered in the Indianapolis 500, the most since 1997 when the 13-member rookie class included Kenny Brack, Greg Ray and Sam Schmidt. Eight rookies have won the Indianapolis 500, including Helio Castroneves in 2001. Can a rookie take the checkered flag this year?

2. Old rivalries will be renewed at Indianapolis this year. The 92nd Indianapolis 500 will be the first under the unified IndyCar Series banner, meaning teams like Team Penske, Dale Coyne Racing, Andretti Green Racing and Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing will compete against each other in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” for the first time since 1995.

3. This is the second consecutive season that three women (Milka Duno, Sarah Fisher and Danica Patrick) are entered in the Indianapolis 500. (Entered does not mean they have qualified for the race.)

4. The next generation is here. Andrettis, Foyts and Rahals will share the track for the first time since 1992 when Jeff, John, Mario and Michael Andretti, A.J. Foyt and Bobby Rahal were on the track together. That year, Rahal, Foyt and John Andretti all finished in the top 10. This year, Marco Andretti, A.J. Foyt IV, Larry Foyt and Graham Rahal will compete. Marco is the 21-year-old grandson of Mario and son of Michael. A.J. IV, who will turn 24 on Race Day, is the grandson of A.J. Foyt, and Graham is the 19-year-old son of Bobby. The only question is, can these next-generation drivers continue their family’s legacies at Indianapolis? (Graham nearly made the top 11 in qualifying last weekend.)

5. One of my favorite drivers, Tony Kanaan, has qualified in the top five in all six of his Indianapolis 500 starts. Other notable streaks include: Helio Castroneves, four consecutive top-10 starts; Danica Patrick, three consecutive top-10 starts; Marco Andretti and Scott Dixon, two consecutive top-10 starts.

6. Helio Castroneves is the only driver to finish in the top five in all four races this season. Tony Kanaan is the only other driver to finish in the top 10 in all four races.

7. Helio Castroneves and Dan Wheldon are the only drivers to complete all 683 laps in 2008.

8. One of my other favorite drivers, Helio Castroneves will make his 102nd career IndyCar Series start after qualifying fourth. It will also be his 100th consecutive start.

9. Buddy Lazier is the only driver to start every Indianapolis 500 since 1995. Hopefully, he will continue that streak by qualifying this weekend.

10. The points leader is missing a victory. Helio Castroneves leads the IndyCar Series standings from his four top-five finishes. However, he has yet to record a victory in 2008. Can he find his way to Victory Lane at Indianapolis, where he won in 2001 and 2002, and become the ninth driver with three or more victories in the Indianapolis 500? Or, will he continue a streak of points leaders who struggle at Indianapolis (Wheldon 22nd in 2007, Castroneves 25th in 2006)? I must say that his season of “Dancing with the Stars” is the only one I’ve watched completely. I was so glad he won!

11. Four drivers have won the first four IndyCar Series races of 2008, making this year the first time since 2004 that a season has started with four different winners. The top four drivers are separated by only 15 points. The last time five different drivers won the first five races was in 2003 when Scott Dixon opened the season with a victory at Homestead-Miami and went on to win the championship. Team Penske’s Gil de Ferran won the Indianapolis 500 that season (the fourth race).

12. Graham Rahal will become the fifth-youngest starter in Indianapolis 500 history (19 year, 142 days) if he qualifies for the race. A.J. Foyt IV (19 years, 0 days) is the youngest ever starter in the 500 while Marco Andretti (19, 76) is third. Sarah Fisher (19, 237) is currently fifth.

13. Four IndyCar Series champions are scheduled to participate in the Indianapolis 500: Buddy Lazier (2000), Scott Dixon (2003), Tony Kanaan (2004) and Dan Wheldon (2005).

Appetizer

What was your favorite cartoon when you were a child?

Oh, wow! I don’t know that I had a favorite, per se. I loved the Smurfs and the Snorks, He-Man and She-Ra, Pound Puppies, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite…oh, I could go on. Just about any of the 80’s cartoons I loved (and still love)

Soup

Pretend you are about to get a new pet. Which animal would you pick, and what would you name it?

Hmmm….probably a puppy/dog. What would I name him or her? Hmm, I dunno. I’d probably let the kids name the pup.

Salad

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?

I guess it depends. If it was an occasion that I was really looking forward to, I’d enjoy it, so probably a 9 or a 10 in that situation. If it was something I was doing just because I had to and not because I wanted to, it’d probably be more like a 1 or a 2.

Main Course

What kind of music do you listen to while you drive?

Again, this depends on my mood. A lot of the time I’m listening to talk radio or sports talk radio. Sometimes I listen to country, sometimes I listen to the Christian station and sometimes I listen to my ipod.

Dessert

When was the last time you bought a clock? And in which room did you put it?

Uh, I’m supposed to remember that? It had to be about 5 years ago when we moved to Erie. We bought a round wood style wall clock and put it in the living room above the entertainment center.
