We were told the Brighton/Henrietta area had the best schools…top 100 in the country, in fact. That’s where we plan to live

I always thought Brighton/Henrietta seemed quite nice. I don’t know anything about schools, as our children were very young while we were there (the second one was actually born four days before we moved to Erie), and we were planning to homeschool anyway, so we didn’t really look into that. We moved here before they started schooling anyway.

We’ve been looking in the Brighton/Henrietta area, since we were told Brighton has the best schools. We’ve found a few interesting places that we’ll be checking out.

Aw, we’ll miss your blog!

I loved Rochester for the 2 1/2 years we lived there. It’s a really nice area. It has a lot of the cultural friendliness of Erie, but with more “culture” and amenities. (Highland Park alone makes it a great place to live. And the shopping!) The east side is the nicer area, but there are many good areas in different parts of the city and suburbs. I don’t imagine it’s changed all that much in 15 years.

Thank you, James. I’ll try to still peruse the Erie blogs once we’re settled. We have loved living in Erie, and will miss everyone terribly! TV can be a rough business and make for a rough life, but I wouldn’t change a thing

Best wishes to you and your family on your move. We will miss your blogging here at the Erie Blogs. Congratulations also goes out to your husband for the big market jump. Who knows…the next stop just might be a large Network early morning show. Keep on chasing the dream because anything is possible in our country. My wife started out in Erie TV and is now a VP at Newscorp’s Fox TV Stations. We’ve lived in 3 major TV Markets in 12 years and are expecting one more and hopefully final move. As you know, moving is exhausting but you and your family are young enough to adapt and make it the adventure it really can be.

I’ll grab what I can over the next couple days and let you know when I get them. I work in one of the school cafeterias here and when we moved in June my boss was great about letting me take whatever boxes I need. The larger ones I’ll need to break down a bit but they’re easily taped back together!

Ray, I’m not sure yet where we’ll live. We’ve gotten some recommendations that the east side is the better area, with better schools, so I think that’s our focus right now.

I’ll have to check out your U-Haul post. We rnted a U-Haul truck to move from Indiana to ND, and from ND to here and haven’t had any problems thus far. It all comes down to who can give us the biggest truck at the best price
