WalkAmerica success!

Posted by Trisha on April 30th, 2007

What a day yesterday was! I am so proud of my boys, though. They made it the whole 6 miles! Granted, I carried Alex at least half of that, and we were the last people to arrive back, but they still made it. I could not be more proud of them! Here are some pics I took of them along the way (when I wasn’t carrying Alex, that is, lol).

How drunk do you have to be? Apparently, this drunk…

Posted by Trisha on April 30th, 2007

I’ve never known anyone who was too drunk to get married. Today, from MSN’s homepage:

PATNA, India – Villagers at a wedding in eastern India decided the groom had arrived too drunk to get married, and so the bride married the groom’s more sober brother instead, police said Monday.

“The groom was drunk and had reportedly misbehaved with guests when the bride’s family and local villagers chased him away,” Madho Singh, a senior police officer told Reuters after Sunday’s marriage in a village in Bihar state’s Arwal district.

Well, that’s one way to keep your daughter from marrying someone you don’t like!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Ryan and Zach! We love you!

Our story, in banner form

Posted by Trisha on April 27th, 2007

You might see me changing themes a lot in the present and near future. Don’t be alarmed. I’m trying out themes on my blog before i upload them to my clients blogs so that I know what works and what doesn’t. I don’t want to go through all of that and find out it doesn’t work.

Walk America is Sunday! I am so excited! Since we are a mission family, we have shared our story with the local MOD chapter. In turn, they have turned our story into a banner, which will be printed up and used at various events around the area. I have a copy of it. Mind you, it isn’t great quality since it was sent to me as a Word document and I had to save it as an html document, but you get the idea.

I know you can’t read the writing, so here is what it says:

ZACHARY & RYAN NEUDORFF
27 WEEKS GESTATION

Born: April 28, 2001 Due Date: July 25, 2001

Zachary’s Birthweight: 2 pounds, 7 ounces
Ryan’s Birthweight: 2 pounds, 13 ounces

Zachary & Ryan were born 13 weeks early.
Although their parents were able to hold them for a few minutes before their isolates were ready, it was another full two weeks before they could hold them again.
The twin boys spent 6 weeks in the hospital.
Some of the equipment there had been purchased through a March of Dimes grant.
The boys also received nitric oxide—
a treatment for life threatening persistent pulmonary hypertension.
The March of Dimes funded the research that produced this treatment.

Although the cause of their preterm birth was linked to a maternal infection,
fifty percent of all preterm births have no known cause.
The Neudorff family supports March of Dimes research in hopes of discovering why
prematurity affects so many lives.
Baby brother, Alexander, was also born preterm.

Birthday party success!

Posted by Trisha on April 26th, 2007

*whew* Now that things have finally calmed down and I am caught up on laundry, I have had time to post pics of the party. It was my first official kids party, and it was a success, if i do say so myself! Here are some pics. I don’t have too many pics since I was too busy running things, lol. But, here’s what I have!

We start with our opening activity. Each kid was photographed next to Tony Stewart:

Then they moved on to the craft table/activity:

Where the kids painted and decorated a wooden frame. I also bought some little wooden race cars and used a paint pen to write their names on them, and then glues them to the bottom of the frame. This is what the final product looked like:

Then we did some games. When they were done with the craft, they could play with the slot cars. Once everyone got there, we did lunch, and then moved on to some games. We bought a Hot Wheels race track with 4 lanes where they could race 4 cars at a time and at the bottom, they could see who won. They really loved that. Then we did pin the number on the car adn that was fun. After that, we did musical chairs (called winners circle…it was a NASCAR party). Then we did birthday cake. So, here are some more pics. We found out that WalMart could combine both their favorite drivers into one cake (Jeff Gordon and Jr). The 2 kits were different, but she did a fantastic job with the cake! Here it is:

And on either side of the cake, we had a big car of Gordon and Jr…those were Alex’s presents to his bubbies.

Ok, now for the presents!

We bought them baseball mits and signed them up for baseball this summer. It was like pulling teeth to try to find a glove for Ryan (He’s a leftie), but when we found one, we snatched it up!

But, here’s the presents they REALLY loved, from my mom and step-dad:

It was a lot of fun, and we really enjoyed seeing my mom and step-dad and the boys’ Godfather. I’ll post some more pictures later. I have some from when ALex, my mom and step-dad and I went to the beach on Monday. For now, I need to go get Alex from school.

Almost there!

Posted by Trisha on April 17th, 2007

I’m at $115 of my $200 Walk America goal. not bad. Better than last year :) Plus, I have some family coming in town this weekend for the birthday party who said they’d sponsor me. I am very excited about it this year, since I’m taking the boys. They will have cute little NICU shirts to wear, too. I hope next year to be able to volunteer a little bit while Alex is in preschool. The MOD office is around the corner from his school, so that will make it easy to get to.

Well, that’s a very brief update. I’m heading back to finish up some birthday party stuff.

Beatboxing Flute player

Posted by Trisha on April 14th, 2007

As a flutist I found this fascinating. The flute is the hardest instrument to play because 90% of the air goes over it, as opposed to in it (like trumpets or saxophones). I can not imagine how much harder this would be to do!

Busy, busy, busy

Posted by Trisha on April 13th, 2007

I haven’t had much time to get on here and just blog. Once I got my computer back last week, it took me a couple of days to get it all back to how I wanted it. Since then, i’ve been feverishly working on our business website pages. They aren’t up yet, but I’m getting very close. It’ll be up by May 1st. On top of that, dh has been working mad hours at work. And, I’m planning the twins’ birthday party next weekend. I don’t have a lot of extra time, but wanted to make sure i gave my blog some love.

I’m also still taking donations for Walk America. This year, it’s the day after the twins turn 6, so they will be walking with me. You can click on the link in my sidebar if you would like to donate to the march of Dimes via my website.

We’ve signed the twins up for baseball this summer. Part of their birthday present from us is baseball gloves. We have looked for about a year for a glove for Ryan. Being that he’s left-handed, it’s almost impossible to find a glove for him. We were in TRU one day looking at them and we found one. Just one. We snatched it up. Needless to say, they are very excited about playing. They won’t start until the middle/end of May, though. but, it should still be lots of fun.
They are getting to that age where they are getting involved in more extracurricular things. Baseball this summer, Cub Scouts in the fall. It’s the fun years :)

Oh, and a very Happy Anniversary to my one true love. I love you sweetie!
